1) Explain in your OWN WORDS why gasoline prices have gone down and then up again in terms of DEMAND and SUPPLY.

Progressive Era Bio Mini-project

One of the most significant times for change in American history was during the Progressive Era. Many Americans took an issue affecting society from the Gilded Age and brought about significant change for the betterment of the United States.

YOUR TASK:
You and a partner will select one person from the Progressive Era. Through research in the library and online (during class time and working solo), you will become the expert on this influential person from the PE.
**EACH INDIVIDUAL CAN ONLY BE RESEARCHED BY ONE GROUP/ PERSON!

THE PROJECT:
1) Posterboard: include pictures of the person & his/her accomplishments, quotes from the person about the PE, ideas from this person.
- Include a few paragraph mini-biography on the person, highlighting the significance of their actions during the PE. THIS IS TO BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS. If it is not, you will, receive a ZERO.
- Make this COLORFUL, make it INTERESTING.

2) Facts: 15-20 facts about this person and their actions during the PE. Only include facts from outside the PE if it is important to show inspiration for their actions during the PE.

3) Bibliography: On back of posterboard, create a bibliography. This is to be done is the CHICAGO STYLE. You can access the rules for this at

Statement of purpose
: Throughout this class, we have focused on developing your ability to take an issue in local, state, and federal government and evaluate the history of, the problems posed by, and the possible solutions of the issue. As a class and as individuals you have explored the intricacies of some pressing matters in our society today.

You Task: You will select one issue of interest to you that we have either discussed in class or something in which you have a personal interest. This topic has to relate to local, state, or federal government or be an issue of pressing importance to your community or the world. Through one of many different mediums, you will explain/analyze/ evaluate:

 the history behind this issue.
 to whom this issue applies and why.
 why this has become such an issue today.
 how it is related to our work in class.
 differing points of view on this issue.
 government proposals to fix this issue.
 YOUR own proposal to fix the problem (based in fact and drawn from the ideas of sources).

How can I do this? It is YOUR choice. Some ways you might wish to consider are:
